K-Ratio Business Intelligence | State of the Art Views for Freight Data
Welcome to the demo of our Margin & Profit Per Load report, or ‘card’ as we like to call them.
The Margin PPL card is one of many that K-Ratio provides its clients within our business intelligence reporting services.
Because this is our first card to demo, I’ll go over some of the basic of how K-Ratio’s dashboards operate in the above video tutorial. Alternatively, you can keep reading and try the card out yourself in the interactive demo at the bottom of the article.
Every card is made up of visual elements displaying different types of graphs, metrics, filters, and tables, all populated with data k-ratio extracts and organizes from your transportation management software.
Each of these elements is interactive, and each selection you make will cause the rest of the elements on the card to correspond with the correct data.
For example, I can select a singular month like august 2019, and the card’s other data points will reflect that. I can even click on a customer name within the bar and line graph, and the rest of the data points will now show the metrics pertaining to just that customer.
This makes K-Ratio’s freight intelligence dashboards a breeze to operate and quickly draw custom insights from.
Main Features of the Margin PPL Freight Business Intelligence Card
Up top we have the placement of your company’s own branding, and then our year and month filters.
On the bottom of the card there is filters for selecting specific customers, and then data points showcasing the result of the current overall selection in their collective margin, number of loads delivered, and average profit per load.
In the bottom right corner we can change our perspective between RFP freight and SPOT freight. This is an invaluable tool for any decision making regarding two separate aspects of business. And you can do it all within the same card with just a click of a filter.
Moving on to the primary graphic, we have a grouped bar and line graph. the bar values represent Total Charges, or revenue, and Total Carrier Pay, or costs.
The x-axis is comprised of all of our customers, and the line graph represents the average profit per load.
Finally, on the right hand side is a nifty reference table. It displays the customer, order number, and margins for all the loads of the current selection.
Quick and Actionable Insights Into Freight Customers
With this table, we can quickly reference order numbers straight from your transportation management software to find quick answers to questions such as: “Why is our profit per load so high for this customer in the month of August 2019?” Well we can select that customer — since the graph is interactive — and immediately start referencing order numbers from the table.
The valuable insight this card offers overall is that it’s a fast bird’s eye view of important data and general freight business behavior.
We can also look at our performance between customers, and with the line graph immediately spot anomalies. Then we can ask ourselves: “Can we better pursue customers with worthwhile profit per load potential?” Or “Can we spend less resources on moving loads with customers with low profit per load?”
We can field these questions with both our RFP and SPOT freight business in the same card.
And if we ever have questions about a load, our order numbers are right here pulled straight from the TMS software.
